3 Essential Maintenance Tips to Increase Your Land Rovers Lifespan

The Land Rover is a household name in luxury SUVs that is branded as a rough-and-tumble road warrior. The brand combines opulence and intricate engineering to create a legendary, modern-day, off-road vehicle that is strong and durable. Despite all its provisions, the Land Rover still needs periodic checks and procedures like any other vehicle. The manufacturer customarily sets a service schedule for its SUVs so that they can run reliably and safely.  Here is a rundown of the maintenance, repair and services that you can do on your own or engage a Land Rover mechanic to perform in order to keep your Land Rover operating at peak performance.

Check Tire Pressure

Ideally, you should check the tyre pressure of your Land Rover weekly and ensure that it is up to par with your manufacturer's directives. Failure to do so will negatively impact your comfort, handling and fuel economy of your vehicle.

Some Land Rover models come with a constant tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) that gives a notification when the pressure is low. Still, making it part of your daily routine won't hurt because the TPMS is not designed to register damage to the tyres.

Check Car Fluids

Your Land Rover's engine contains a lot of moving parts that create friction. The friction consequently generates heat, which then reduces the engine's performance. Eliminating friction, therefore, goes a long way into ensuring smooth operation. Oil is used to reduce friction.

Checking oil levels is an essential part of basic car maintenance and should be done when the engine has cooled down, and when the car is parked on level ground. Clean and re-insert the oil dipstick to check the oil level. Ensure that the oil level is always between the H and L markers on the dipstick.

Check Your Engine Air Filter

The efficiency of an automobile's engine is dependent on the mixture of air and fuel. The air filter is designed to prevent debris and particles from entering the engine. A faulty air filter will result in mediocre gas mileage and significantly reduced horsepower.

While the air filter should be replaced following the manufacturer's manual, it is recommended that you check the condition of the air filter every 12 months. It's best to replace it even if the mileage recommendation has not been met yet if it's too dirty.

Gaining access to the air filter varies from one Land Rover model to another, but it is clearly outlined in the manual. If you experience any problems, a Land Rover mechanic can check and replace it for you if necessary.

In sum, taking good care of your luxury SUV should be relatively easy, as the maintenance activities are usually outlined in the manual. Besides, maintenance also saves you a ton of expenses and gives you peace of mind. The three tips above obviously do not cover every facet of Land Rover servicing but are centred on the core elements; tyres, engine and fuel.
